My Mobile Office

For the past two weeks, I have been traveling but can't afford to just not work. So, I decided to bring my office along with me. I thought it would be fun to share just how I did that.

Inside my backpack, this is what you would find. I brought along my most popular colors in yarn but kept in mind that Michaels, Joann's or AC Moore is not far at almost any location. Though, I did have to shop a local owned yarn shop at one back-in-the-woods stop when the closest chain store was an hour away. But, that's always nice to support a local business, after all, I am one myself and I appreciate when people buy from me instead of some chain store in the mall.

One thing I might note is that although the computer is a big part of my job, my iphone is amazing as well. I have my phone hooked up with the ETSY app that alerts me whenever I make a sale, allows me to talk to my customers and even allows me to notify them when I have shipped their item. I also have the Paypal Here app which allows me to swipe credit cards for on the spot purchases, which at this point, makes up a good percentage of my sales. My computer, however, turns into not only my storefront, but a place to edit my product photos, a post office built into Etsy, my social network and my blog!

And as for the audio cd. I have been trying to read this book for months but always get distracted with another book. Watching movies or listening to books while I work is one of my favorites! I like multi-tasking!

My sewing machine is light weight and is simply hidden in it's little carrying case. But, I carry all my accessories in this little accessory bag. It carries everything from crochet hooks to my hang tags and shipping supplies. There isn't much else I need. I will note that having a travel size scissors that is SUPER sharp is amazing. It cuts through fabrics but can also be used for easy cuts like yarn.

In this season of my life, I can't express how thankful I am to be able to take my work on the road with me. With Dustin traveling, it's nice to be able to pick up my life and move it temporarily, whether if I get to travel with Dustin, if I am visiting family or friends or even if I am working during nap time when I am nannying. ♥, mK
