Today
This week has taken a beautiful turn from last weekend. I have felt a sense of renewed pride in myself; fulfillment. It's been a busier than normal week and today I find myself reflecting on why my mood has been lifted so much.
For starters, Nashville knows how to throw a good free event. Last night Dustin and I went to a free Wallflowers concert downtown. It was fun sitting with friends out on a blanket, listening to good music. Thank you Nashville! Also, I have had a bit more business from my shop, which is so much fun. I tell ya, people are so creative with color combinations. I love making customized pieces for people. And, speaking of people with good taste, my friend had me make some pillow covers for her and I must say, the fabric she picked out is awesome! What a fun project! I can't wait to see them in amongst her room decor.
When I wasn't making orders from my shop, I have been stocking up on all my items for the busy season that will start here in a few weeks! Honestly, this week it has been pretty fun. I have been checking out movies from the library have tea and snacks by my side and just crochet away. What you can't see in the photo above is the mess of yarn ALL over the floor below my feet. I am only tricking you by letting you think it's a tidy process. (Note to self: Dear me, remember this post and how much fun this is when your eyes are tired and your wrists are hurting from not crocheting fast enough to fulfill the crazy orders like last December! Love, mk) Anyway, today's movie was Mona Lisa Smile. If it weren't for the librarians always being so nice to me, I would rather think they see me as a lazy bum for always checking out a stack of movies each week.
Fun stuff aside, I think the number one thing is that I feel incredibly supported by Dustin. This whole Etsy business thing is a bit risky. It makes so much more sense to get a full-time job and then do the Etsy thing on top of that, but after last winter's success, I just really wanted to see if I could go all out for it. We had a few conversations about it this week, kinda strategizing how we could make it work as well as set some goals and pray about it. Those are the moments that I feel like our marriage is so much of a team effort. I love having him on my team and I love being on his team...or at least his cheerleader! This morning I drove Dustin to meet up with the other guys in the band and to wish him goodbye for the next four days as they travel up north. And so it begins - the touring season. The official tour starts next week and then I'll only see him a few days each week for the rest of the year. I am so proud of him. He is living the first phase of his dream, our dream, really. God is good!
Oh and by the way, this hat above is a product of this morning...and Mona Lisa Smile. I was so sad to have to mail it off this afternoon. I Love it. I just might have to make one for myself. AND - I can make one for you too, shipping is on me! Just use the code "MONALISASMILE" and the shipping is my treat! But it's only good through the weekend! (Be sure to specify colors and if you want stripes!) Have a splendid weekend! ♥, mK
