4 Simple Goals before 2013
One of my daily blog reads is A Beautiful Mess, written by sisters, Elsie and Emma. My friend, Megan, introduced me to ABM back when it was mainly just Elsie writing, and since then, she has become my biggest blogging role model. The things I love about her are that she is super crafty, true to herself, organized and very goal oriented. One other thing that I am continually impressed by is the fact that she interacts with her readers even though she has hundreds of thousands of followers. Last week, Elsie wrote a post about making 4 simple goals before 2013. These goals are meant to make your life richer and happier on a daily basis. For a few days, I thought over what my goals would be and decided why not add a bit of accountability to it and share my goals on this space.
1 > Eat Yogurt. To understand why this has to be a goal, you must also know that after living in Japan for months, in the end, the worst thing I felt I ate was yogurt. I am not a big fan but I also know that it is incredibly good for you. 2 > Cook new recipe each week. Dustin will be out on tour this Fall and I really don't want to get in a rut where I just end up not cooking because meals for one are not as fun to make. So, instead, I will try out some fun new recipes, at least one a week! Maybe I'll find my new go-to recipe!! 3 > Create new looks from current wardrobe. Since this fall I am working hard to launch my own business (Which usually doesn't make a lot of income in the beginning), I am cutting back on spending money on my "wants" but rather only my "needs". With the amount of clothing I already have, I don't "need" any new clothing, so instead I want to try and create new creative looks out of my existing wardrobe. 4 > Love beyond requirement. This may not sound simple, but really, loving people doesn't have to be difficult. It just means taking an extra step every now and then and sometimes requires humbleness. When I see the homeless man on the street being proactive and selling newspapers, I want to encourage him and buy one. That little act may give him just enough hope to keep his business going, just like I look for those little hopeful moments that keep me from quitting mine as well. No matter our "status", we all need love. I want to love beyond and love well. Even if I am constantly being snubbed by that one acquaintance, I want to still show that person love because they are human and every human being deserves love. Who knows, maybe they are just feeling insecure and really need a friend to break through that hard exterior. And in another way, this season is my husband's season to shine. I want to love him through unconditional support.
And as for rewarding myself. Per #3 and the whole not spending money on "wants", I decided that I would treat myself to keeping one of my products. I really like these new headbands I am working on, so I will make one just for me and not guilt myself into selling it instead!
