Earlier this week, Dustin and I went to a house show here in Nashville. Our friend from San Diego, Rheanna Downey, is out on tour and happened to stop by Nashville. Touring with Rheanna is another amazing musician out of San Diego, Jasmine Commerce. Both Rheanna and Jasmine are incredibly talented and possess such unique sounds that I hope you get to hear live one day! You can check out their music here & here!
Dustin and I were pleasantly surprised when a poet came to the mic shortly after Rheanna & Jasmine's set. I wasn't sure what to expect but as soon as the poet, Garret Potter, began reciting his poems, we were fully engaged. Some made us laugh, some made us think, but all of them made me appreciate poetry all the more. I have so much respect for people who can so artistically put into words what they are feeling. You can hear a few of his poems here!
Though all of the performances at this show were from out-of-town, it really made me excited to be part of the music scene here in Nashville. Just the fact that there exists these small intimate venues (or homes) where you get to hear such amazing music. Contrary to public belief - and what I thought prior to moving here, Nashville is NOT just country, folks. It's a hub for all kinds of music, and it is incredibly humbling to be surrounded by such talent, whether local or passing through.
How about you? Have you been to any good concerts lately? ♥, mK
