Earth Day with a Wired Twist

A few weeks ago at work, Megan (Our In-house Photographer) and I had to put together a photo shoot for our April Flavour of the Month. The FOTM is our featured necklace each month. This year, each month represents and raises awareness of a specific aspect of Ugandan Culture and this month's necklace speaks on energy sources! "Wired" also has a lot to say in regards to Earth Day as it's actually made from recycled electrical wire and the usual recycled paper beads!

All that to say, Megan and I cooked up a plan for this spring-like photo shoot with an extra dose of "Keep the Earth Beautiful" spirit! At first we had thought about doing a studio shoot because Grand Junction in that week was still pretty brown, it is a desert after all! Last minute we remembered that our city has a botanical garden! Ah, and they sell LGH products in their shop - so we had the in...plus they are just extremely nice people! It all helps! So, seriously a few hours before the shoot was scheduled we changed the plans and headed down to the Western Colorado Botanical Gardens.

I had never been to the gardens even after living here for two and a half years, and I suddenly felt sorry for myself that I never had - IT WAS GORGEOUS! It was soo humid when we got inside, it felt like I was back in Pennsylvania during the summer. 

The Lighting was perfect - It was a cloudy day and the glass walls created a perfect filtered light. That's Megan taking the photos and Heather is our beautiful model. She has become our go-to model in the past few months; you'll see her a lot in our upcoming look book and all over the website. She is such a natural which makes my job super easy!

You don't have to be a "tree hugger" to know it's a good idea to take care of the Earth we've been given. There's lots of ways to do your part - Start Recycling, plant some flowers, start using reusable items...etc.

I think I'll start my Earth day off by taking my reusable mug to Starbucks for a free coffee. Mmm, taking care of the earth never tasted so good!! :) Happy Earth Day!
